Bayi School will launch my country's first science popularization satellite for middle school students next year. Beijing Bayi School will launch a low-orbit science popularization satellite for middle school students next year. This will be my country's first satellite developed and launched under the leadership of a middle school. This reporter learned this morning from the organizer of the first China Space Day event. Today is the first China Space Day. As one of the series of activities of Space Day, the development, application and related curriculum development activities of China s first small satellite for science popularization for middle school students were organized by the Bayi School and the Aerospace Talent Development and Exchange Center. Leaders and experts from the National Space Administration, Aerospace Science and Technology Group, Ministry of Education, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Astronaut Center and other units as well as representatives of teachers and students of Bayi School attended the launching ceremony. Middle school students participated in the design, manufacture and launch of satellites. Zhu, the vice principal of Bayi School, told a Beijing Evening News reporter that the launch of small science satellites for middle school students was mainly to popularize aerospace knowledge among primary and secondary school students and encourage more primary and secondary school students to participate in the aerospace industry. Under the leadership of aerospace experts, students from Bayi School will directly participate in the design, manufacturing, testing, launch, and ground station construction of the satellite. The Aerospace Talent Development and Exchange Center will jointly develop a series of aerospace science quality education courses with Bayi School to promote the construction of a maker and innovation culture and build Bayi School into a first-class aerospace science education characteristic school and demonstration base in the country. The satellite provides free services to the world. This science popularization satellite for middle school students will adopt a cube configuration, with a side length of 250 mm and a mass of 10 kg. It is scheduled to be launched next year. The satellite can work remotely and automatically send telemetry information to the ground. Students can receive radio beacon signals, conduct two-way radio relay communications through the satellite, and conduct related scientific experiments. The satellite will operate in a sun-synchronous orbit and provide free services to the world. After the satellite is launched into space, aerospace experts will jointly organize space-terrestrial collaborative education and science activities with Bayi School. The Aerospace Talent Development and Exchange Center plans to develop 200 aerospace science and technology education demonstration schools across the country to form an alliance of satellite technology application teaching and satellite maker laboratories. Alliance schools can use this satellite platform to carry out scientific and practical activities such as satellite and aerospace-related course development, exchanges, learning, and satellite interactive applications. The first rocket production for middle school students will also be carried out. Experts said that the launch and application of the first science satellite for middle school students will creatively connect aerospace high-tech talents, technology, spirit, culture and other resources with the school's scientific quality education, and cultivate a large number of high-tech talents. Zhou Xiubin, deputy director of the Aerospace Talent Development and Exchange Center, revealed that after the successful launch of my country's first science satellite for middle school students, the first rocket production and launch maker activity for middle school students will be launched. Bayi School's ability to lead the development and launch of science satellites for middle school students stems from its strong investment and outstanding achievements in scientific quality education over the years. The school has won the Jinpeng Award, the highest collective honor for science and technology education in Beijing, for many consecutive years, and was named the Beijing Jinpeng Science and Technology Group. It has hosted many national youth aerospace competitions and won numerous awards in domestic and international aerospace, robotics competitions, the Global Youth Innovative Thinking Challenge, and the Nuremberg International Invention Exhibition in Germany. The development and launch of science popularization satellites for middle school students is a complex systematic project that has received support from China Association for Science and Technology, China National Space Administration, Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Space Foundation, Great Wall Industrial Group, China Education Online, Aerospace Publishing House, Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Company, Beijing Institute of Microelectronics Technology, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Qian Xuesen Youth Academy of Aerospace Science, Donggao Youth Science and Technology Museum and other units
